Norwalk and Western RR
HO Scale Model Railroad
The Norwalk & Western RR was formed in 1984 and has reformed and grown to be one of the most respected model railroad groups in the Northern Ohio region. We currently boast two very detailed traveling 4’ x 8’ HO Scale layouts and a third sectional layout is under construction but now operational and on the travel circuit. All traveling layouts are fully run by Digital Command Control (DCC). Emphasis on all of these layouts is realism and prototypical operation. Many of the locomotives and rolling stock run on the layout are weathered and/or super-detailed.
In addition to the operating layouts, the Norwalk & Western RR runs three Model Train shows per year-one in the Fall, and one in the Winter, and one in the Spring. These shows have been very successful for our club and serve to promote model railroading in the Norwalk area.
Historically, our members have come not only the Norwalk area, but from such neighboring locations as Bellevue, Wellington, North Ridgeville, Tiffin, Elyria, Milan, Vermilion, Fremont, and Sandusky. The reason for our enduring success is simple-we place the emphasis on model railroading and not on the formality of endless meetings. Clinics are offered on weathering, detailing, basic kit building, scenery and other model railroading topics. Help is always available to answer model railroading questions and solve problems. There is now a fully equipped workshop at the club where modelers can build and weather equipment!
Membership openings are available. A membership application can be obtained by emailing the President or Show Coordinator.
