Norwalk and Western RR

HO Scale Model Railroad Club
The Norwalk & Western RR was formed in 1984 and has grown to be one of the most respected model railroad clubs in the Northern Ohio region.  We currently boast two HO Scale layouts-a very detailed and realistic 4’ x 8’ and an incredible modular layout that is currently set up to be 40’ x 24’ but can be much larger.  Both layouts are fully run by Digital Command Control (DCC).  Emphasis on both of these layouts is realism and prototypical operation.  Much of the locomotives and rolling stock run on the layout is weathered and/or super-detailed.  A second 4’ x 8’ layout is currently under construction.

In addition to the operating layouts, the Norwalk & Western RR runs two Train & Toy shows per year-one in the Spring and one in the Fall.  These shows have been very successful for our club and serve to promote model railroading in the Norwalk area.

Our members come not only the Norwalk area, but from such neighboring places  as Bellevue, Wellington, North Ridgeville, Tiffin, Elyria, Milan, Vermilion, Fremont, and Sandusky.  The reason for our enduring success is simple-we place the emphasis on model railroading and not on the formality of endless meetings.  Clinics are offered on weathering, detailing, basic kit building, scenery and other model railroading topics.  Help is always available to answer model railroading questions and solve problems.

Membership openings are often available.  A membership application can be downloaded from this site or be obtained by coming to a meeting.  The club is open to the public every Tuesday evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm and many Sunday afternoons from 1:00pm-4:00pm.  The club’s street address is 8 1/2 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857 and the mailing address is PO Box 938, Norwalk, OH 44857.
